How to improve your Japanese in 2023

One way to improve your Japanese is to take the JLPT exam. The test itself won’t improve your Japanese, but the extra study and motivation provided by taking a test can make a big difference.

The exam assesses reading and listening skills as well as knowledge of grammar and vocabulary. Speaking and writing skills are not tested at all. Every question is multiple choice.

The 5th and perhaps most important and underestimated skill for the JLPT is exam technique. Learning how the questions are supposed to be answered requires practice.

If you would like to take one of the 5 levels, I recommend starting early in your study. Applications for the July 2023 exam will open in March. The exam can be taken in either Leicester or London.

継続は力なり KEIZOKU WA CHIKARA NARI (Persistence pays off - if you keep working at something, it will become a skill)

Our weekly group classes can support study for exams from N5 (the most basic) to N2 (the 2nd most difficult). Email me at info@shimaguni.co.uk if you would like to know more about these classes.

The above classes are not specifically for preparing for the JLPT exam. If you do want to join a specific class for JLPT preparation, please let me know and I will try to set up a group. Private classes for JLPT preparation are also available.

More details of the JLPT etc will be in my January newsletter. You can subscribe to this on our home page here.

Apologies for the photo.

Just wanted to show I am still alive.
